Kickin’ It Local Feature: Sugar Llamas Keller — Where Sweet Treats Meet Community Vibes

When you walk into Sugar Llamas Keller, you’re greeted with more than the smell of warm mini donuts and freshly brewed coffee. You’re stepping into a space that feels like home—a place where neighbors gather, friendships form, and sweet memories are made one sprinkle at a time.

We sat down with Mallory D’Aliso, co-owner of Sugar Llamas Keller, to hear the story behind the shop that’s quickly becoming a Keller favorite.

Meet the Heart Behind the Brand

Mallory’s journey into business started in the classroom—literally. A lifelong educator with a background in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, Mallory always had a dream of circling back to the hospitality world. With her husband Chris by her side (and a shared love for llamas, coffee, donuts, and ice cream), they decided to bring that dream to life.

“I’ve always wanted to dip my toes back into hospitality,” Mallory shared. “And I knew this was the right venture to encourage Chris to join me in it.”

What Makes Sugar Llamas Different?

Sure, the mini donuts are delicious. The coffee? On point. And the ice cream? A fan favorite. But what really sets Sugar Llamas apart isn’t just the menu—it’s the mission.

“The heart of our business is really the people,” Mallory said. “We’re about creating a space where neighbors become friends, and every visit feels like catching up with family.”

Making an Impact in Keller

From after-school hangouts to Saturday morning rituals, Sugar Llamas Keller is becoming a local hub where the community gathers. The shop supports other local businesses through collaborations and sourcing when possible, and regularly participates in pop-ups and events that keep things fresh.

“Our goal is to be more than just a shop,” Mallory said. “We want to be a neighbor.”

Sweetest Rewards

For Mallory and Chris, the most rewarding part has been watching families light up when they walk through the door. From little league celebrations to “just because” donut runs, Sugar Llamas is a part of everyday moments—and that’s exactly the point.

“It’s about being woven into someone’s memories,” Mallory said. “That’s the real win.”

From Challenges to Creativity

Like any small business, there have been challenges—from juggling operations to surviving slower seasons without a drive-thru. But Mallory didn’t let that stop her.

“I had to learn how to delegate and trust my team so I could get back to the front of the house and connect with customers,” she explained. “And during slower times, we got creative with new menu items, local marketing, and events.”

Advice for Aspiring Keller Entrepreneurs

“Lean into the community,” Mallory emphasized. “People in Keller are loyal. Show them you’re here to be part of something bigger, not just to make a sale.”

Her other tips? Show up to events. Listen to what locals want. Build trust. And don’t be afraid to ask for help or wear all the hats in the beginning.

How You Can Support Sugar Llamas Keller

The answer’s simple: show up.

It’s the regular visits, the social shares, the word-of-mouth referrals that make the biggest impact. “It means the world when someone chooses us over a chain or posts about their experience online,” Mallory said.

What’s Next?

Mallory and Chris aren’t slowing down anytime soon. They’re planning to expand their community involvement and explore new ways to serve up more sweetness—literally and figuratively.
